Foreman-Sheean delivers the latest in electrical and communications technology, providing MASP with community-centric infrastructure and long-term cost-efficiencies.
Mallee Accommodation and Support Program (MASP) is a community based, not for profit organisation located in Mildura, Victoria. Assisting youth, adults and family, their mission is to facilitate community services that are timely, relevant and cost-effective for people in need.
The challenges MASP were encountering:
Having outgrown their existing facilities, MASP required a central Service and Community Hub, where they could consolidate their services, support the expansion of their organisation and offer a modern, warm and supportive environment for their members.
With a $5 million project budget, MASP engaged King Constructions as their builder and Foreman-Sheean as electrical contractors for this project. Their key project requirements included the need for a cost-efficient open-plan building, equipped with energy-efficient power and advanced functionality to pre-empt and accommodate their members’ needs.
Engaging a reliable, proficient and experienced electrical contractor was critical to the successful completion of the project.
Scope of Work:
Foreman-Sheean was engaged to supply and construct the entire electrical and communications system for the new 5000m2 MASP building. Responsible for the installation of mains power and the main switchboard, the Foreman-Sheean team also commissioned the entire lighting system, energy-efficient automation, as well as the ultra-modern communication system throughout.
Encompassing two stories, the Foreman-Sheean team were required to strategically plan to ensure time on site was optimised and each project task was perfectly coordinated to fit in with other trades. Key to this project was not only compliance but exceptional risk management, to ensure that the electrical work was completed to an exceptionally high standard, on time and on budget.
Foreman-Sheean worked closely with the MASP team, along with architect and project manager, Andrew Nairn from Aspire Architects and building contractor, Dale King from King Construction Group. Customising the system for MASP while also allowing for future expansion, Foreman-Sheean delivered forward-thinking, automated electrical and communications services. They also installed state-of-the-art soft wiring cabled to three-way pods, ensuring the new MASP hub is both cost-efficient and user-friendly.
Each room incorporates sensor lighting to ensure that lights are only turned on when required. Several spaces have electronic dimmers, providing soft light for members and ensuring they are comfortable at all times. With a simple wave of the hand the system turns on; hold the button and lights will adjust to the required setting.
Every desk within the hub includes eight power points, catering for computers, ports and phone charging facilities. In addition, USB power points have been installed in the reception area, enabling members to charge their phones along with their mobility scooters. This not only provides an excellent community experience for employees and members but also ensures optimal operation for the business.
“Foreman-Sheean delivered the electrical and communications scope of work on time and within budget. Always available to answer any questions, the team went above and beyond, predicting our future requirements and providing an exceptional level of service and workmanship.” Mark Ross, Manager Strategy + Innovation, MASP
